Gutter Installation Basics
What Are Some Common Types of Gutter Guards?
- Screen Gutter Guards: These are sheets of metal or plastic with holes that cover the gutter. The holes stop debris of medium to large size while letting water pass through.
- Mesh Gutter Guards: Mesh gutter guards usually work better than screen guards and balance water flow and filtration. They have a flat barrier with holes, like screen guards, but the holes are tinier. This lets them stop a wider range of debris and pests.
- Micro-Mesh Gutter Guards: Micro-mesh gutter guards are like mesh guards, but they have even smaller holes. This lets them stop the tiniest debris, such as shingle grit and pine needles.
- Reverse-Curve Gutter Guards: These are also called surface tension gutter guards, and they are made to guide water into the gutter while making leaves and other debris fall to the ground.
- Brush Gutter Guards: These resemble big pipe cleaners and are made to keep leaves and other debris from blocking the gutter while letting water flow through.
- Foam Gutter Guards: These are pieces of foam that go inside your gutter, stopping any debris from getting into the gutter while letting water soak through.
